Notes
The Lizard Class Cruiser is the workhorse of the Lizard fleet. It has a very large cargo hold and can cloak, making it ideal for dropping clans on enemy planets (remember the 30:1 Lizards ground combat ratio!). However, the downside to this ship is its fuel consumption; it really is a gas guzzler, and it can be hard to refuel deep in enemy territory. As such, always make it part of a convoy if you're invading someone, and a better choice for freighter robbing would be the Saurian, which is lighter and consumes less fuel at the cost of 1 torpdeo tube. You could use the Reptile too, but it's small fuel tank makes the Saurian ideal.

As far as all-around warships go, this ship is OK, and at tech 4 it's a strong ship to build early in the game. However, later on it won't stand up to most enemy ships, and it would be better to build T-Rexes as war ships.

Overview
Cloaking is a mission that allows a ship to be hidden from the enemy at the cost of extra fuel.
Cloaked ships are also less likely to hit mines (25% of normal probability).

Statistics
* Cloaking will fail approximately 1% of the time; in VGA Planets Nu, this gives this message:

We've had a problem in our engine room. Our cloaking device has failed!

* Cloaking burns Max (5, Floor((hull mass / 100) * 5))kt of fuel per turn.
* The The Empire of Birds has two ships with an advanced cloaking device.

Counter Strategies
Being attacked by ships with a cloaking device can be tough.

There are mainly three more-or-less effective counter-measures:
* Lay many minefields where you suspect cloaked enemies (preferably overlapping minefields). Web mines are even better, if available.
* A Loki Class Destroyer will decloak any cloaked ships with in 10 ly around it (doesn't work versus ships owned by Feds, Lizards and Birds).
* Ships with a glory device can also be used to decloak (and possibly disable or destroy) a cloaked ship at the same location.

For any non-Crystal race, a hostile planet is one that is over 84 or under 15 degrees (50 being the average, or "ideal" temperature). Crystals prefer 100°, but 0° is the only temperature planet they cannot live on.

Most VGAP UIs will calculate the maximum clans a planet can hold. What is not immediately obvious is that clans on the surface of a planet in excess of the maximum can eat supplies (a small amount) to live, provided that there are enough supplies on the planet.

For every extra clan over the maximum population, four supply units must also be on the surface of the planet to ensure their survival.

For instance, if the maximum population of a planet is 189 clans, you may put 289 clans on a planet provided you ALSO ship in, or accumulate, 400 supplies, and simply leave them there. Two or three will be "eaten" every turn, but those are easily replaced by factory production and will not usually be noticeable.

This can occasionally be difficult to arrange. An Avian planet requiring 1200 clans over maximum population will need a staggering 4800 supplies! Yet this will pay itself back quite quickly with patience.

If you're playing the Rebels you're lucky since they can support 90,000 clans on arctic planets (without the need of supplies). While the Crystals prefer 100 degree planets, they actually have a maximum population advantage on all hostile (<15° or >84°, with the exception of 0°) planets compared to other races (except Rebels on cold planets).
